This is the official blog of Twin Squeaks Gerbils, a site where both children and adults can learn about gerbils, look at gerbil photos, find tips for keeping their pets healthy and tame, and much more.

They are so adorable! Reminds me of when I take my gerbils out and let them run in the grass. They love it! (I make sure they're safe and stick close by, of course)
Yes, you can really notice how small Smurf is compared to Gobo. Wasn't Buster also a huge gerbil? In the pictures I saw of him about a year ago, he looked VERY big. But then again, he might have been paired up with someone small like Smurf!
Thanks for the video! Love it!
Smurf is a very handsome boy. Do you have future plans to breed blue gerbils?
No, I don't breed. Just a happy pet owner. :)
Plus, the blue breeding program is pretty locked down right now, to ensure that they're bred responsibly, properly out-crossed, and that the dilute gene (which produces blue gerbils) is kept separate from other breeding lines (so side effects of the dilute gene don't get into all gerbil lines in the U.S.).
When I adopted Smurf, they knew that he was going to a pet home and would not be bred. One of his brothers is also in a good pet home. I met Smurf’s brother at the show. He was a lovely gerbil and oh-so-friendly. :)
You can read more about the blue breeding program here: Shawnsheen River Gerbils - Blue Gerbils
How responsible of you! Its so tempting to have pups but when I see and hear about homeless gerbils I think I would rather take them in than breed my own.
Yes, some of the gerbils who have been dearest to my heart have been ones who were homeless.
In fact, Gobo’s first tankmate Buster was from our local shelter. :)
